Emi Lovebug

Emi Lovebug is based in Dallas, Texas where she has been writing since she was eight years old. She was inspired by Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato to write about her heartbreaks and triumphs, no matter how big or small they felt at the time. As she grew up, she continued to write about her feelings of being outcast, confused, and hopelessly in love, and her entrenchment in the Southern Baptist culture during her young adult years brought forth the raw, relatable, and fresh lyrics she writes today about the struggles she faced conforming to that culture.

Emi’s journey in songwriting has always been motivated by finding people who relate to the feelings she’s writing about and healing her inner child along the way. By listening, the audience can expect her to name the feelings of grief, anger, jealousy, and hopelessness they’ve been struggling with and celebrate the fact that those emotions demonstrate one’s humanity. Through gentle strings or pounding drums, Emi is determined to bring forth the humanity within her, raw or composed, and ask, “Does anyone else see me?”

Emi has been a songwriter all her life, but has shared an equal part of her artistic life with musical theatre and choir. She combines those backgrounds to create an interesting and honest world inspired from all kinds of music, from chamber choir hymns to prog rock. When not singing, Emi enjoys sewing, becoming part of a new fandom, and spending time with her boyfriend and cat.
